
Author's Guidelines
The International Journal of Contemporary Legal Research (IJCLR) is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, original, and interdisciplinary legal research. Authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below before submitting their manuscripts.
1. Scope of the Journal
IJCLR welcomes original scholarly contributions in the field of contemporary legal studies, including but not limited to:
- Law and Social Change
- Human Rights Law
- Gender Justice, LGBTQ+ Rights, and Feminist Legal Theory
- Racial Justice and Equality
- Public Interest Litigation
- Constitutional and Administrative Law
- Criminal Law and Justice Systems
- International and Comparative Law
- Socio-Legal and Interdisciplinary Legal Research
2. Types of Submissions
- Research Articles: 5,000–8,000 words
- Short Articles / Notes: 3,000–5,000 words
- Case Comments: 2,000–3,500 words
- Book Reviews: 1,500–3,000 words
Word limits include footnotes.
3. Originality and Plagiarism Policy
Manuscripts must be original and unpublished and must not be under consideration by any other journal. All submissions are screened for plagiarism. Any manuscript found to contain plagiarism beyond acceptable academic limits will be rejected.
4. Manuscript Formatting
- Font: Times New Roman
- Main text: 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, justified
- Footnotes: 10 pt, single spacing
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- Language: English (British spelling preferred)
5. Structure of the Manuscript
- Title of the Paper
- Abstract (200–300 words)
- Keywords (4–6)
- Main Text (with numbered headings and sub-headings)
- Conclusion
- Footnotes / References
6. Abstract and Keywords
The abstract should clearly state the research objective, methodology, key findings, and contribution of the study. Citations should be avoided in the abstract. Authors must provide 4–6 relevant keywords.
7. Citation and Referencing Style
IJCLR follows the Bluebook (20th Edition) citation style. All references must be provided as footnotes. Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of citations.
8. Tables, Figures, and Data
Tables and figures must be clearly numbered and titled. Sources must be acknowledged. Empirical data, where used, must be ethically collected and accurately presented.
9. Author Details and Anonymity
To ensure a double-blind peer review process, manuscripts must not contain any identifying information. Author details (name, affiliation, ORCID, and email address) must be entered separately during online submission.
10. Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. Editorial decisions are based on originality, academic merit, relevance, clarity, and contribution to legal scholarship.
11. Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s online submission system (OJS). Submissions sent via email will not be accepted.
12. Publication Ethics
Authors must adhere to ethical research and publication practices, including proper acknowledgment of sources, disclosure of conflicts of interest (if any), and compliance with academic integrity standards.
13. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright over their work. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant the journal the right to publish the work. Any subsequent use must appropriately acknowledge the journal.
14. Editorial Disclaimer
The views expressed in published articles are solely those of the authors. The journal and its editorial board do not accept responsibility for such views.
