submission Guidelines

International Journal of

Contemporary legal Research

Although IJCLR is not currently a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the editorial board is committed to upholding and following COPE’s guidelines, policies, and ethical principles in all editorial practices.

Disclosure of Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships with individuals or organizations that could inappropriately influence their research or its interpretation, as such relationships may create actual or perceived conflicts of interest. Potential conflicts include, but are not limited to, academic or professional affiliations, advisory or consultancy roles, equity interests or shareholdings, honoraria or other financial compensation, paid expert testimony, patent applications or granted patents, and the receipt of research grants or other financial support. Authors are required to declare any potential conflicts of interest in two places: (1) a brief Conflict of Interest statement included either on the title page (for double-blind submissions) or within the manuscript file (for single-blind submissions), using the wording “Conflict of Interest Statement: The authors declare no competing interests” if none exist, and (2) a detailed disclosure provided in a separate Declaration of Interest form, which forms part of the journal’s official records. It is essential that disclosures are made in both locations and that the information provided is accurate, complete, and consistent across all submission documents.

Contributors

All authors should have had substantial input towards the work's research and/or writing. Thus, their respective contributions should be acknowledged. Including the disclaimer that "all authors have approved the final article" is required.

All listed authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and/or writing of the manuscript, and their specific roles should be appropriately acknowledged. Authorship should be limited to those who have significantly contributed to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. It is mandatory to include a statement confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.

Changes to authorship

Authors are required to carefully determine the final list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and must provide the definitive authorship details at the time of initial submission. Any request to add, remove, or rearrange author names should be made only prior to acceptance of the manuscript and must receive formal approval from the Editor. To initiate such a request, the corresponding author must submit (a) a clear justification for the proposed change and (b) written confirmation (by email or letter) from all listed authors, including any author being added or removed, indicating their agreement with the modification. Changes to authorship after acceptance will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, and publication will be suspended while the Editor reviews the request. If the manuscript has already been published online and a change is approved, a corrigendum will be issued to formally record the correction.

Copy protection

Upon acceptance of an article, authors are required to sign a License Agreement, the terms of which are outlined in the journal’s policies. By executing this agreement, authors confirm that their manuscript may be published under an open-access model and made freely and permanently accessible to all readers without charge.

Funding

Authors must clearly identify all sources of financial support received for the conduct of the research and/or preparation of the manuscript and briefly describe the role of the funding body, if any, in the study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation of results, manuscript preparation, and the decision to submit the work for publication. If no external funding was received, authors should include the statement: “Funding: No funding source applicable.”

Queries

For efficient handling of all queries, authors are requested to contact the appropriate office based on the nature of their issue. Technical Support (ijclr123@gmail.com) should be contacted only for system- and platform-related matters, including problems with account registration or login, password resets, errors during manuscript submission or file uploads, difficulties uploading revised manuscripts or supplementary files, issues accessing reviewer comments or decision letters, website malfunctions, broken links, or article page formatting errors after publication. Editorial Support (editor@ijclr.com) should be contacted only for content- and process-related matters, including questions about journal scope and policies, manuscript status or editorial decisions, peer-review outcomes, revision requirements or deadlines, authorship or ethics issues, and publication scheduling. Directing queries to the correct email address will ensure faster and more accurate assistance.

Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts to the journal for initial evaluation and consideration for publication in accordance with IJCLR’s scope and author guidelines.

Initial Evaluation: Upon receipt, the Editor conducts a preliminary review of the manuscript to assess its relevance to the journal’s scope, overall quality, originality, and compliance with IJCLR’s submission guidelines.

Decision: Based on the outcome of the initial evaluation, the Editor may take one of the following actions regarding the submitted manuscript: proceed to peer review, request revisions, or decline the submission if it does not meet the journal’s standards or scope.

Reject: If the manuscript fails to meet IJCLR’s academic standards, ethical requirements, or scope, the Editor may reject the submission at this stage without proceeding to external peer review.

Send for Review: If the manuscript demonstrates scholarly merit and aligns with the journal’s scope, the Editor will forward it for external peer review to obtain expert evaluation of its quality, originality, and contribution to the field.

Peer review process.

Desk Rejection: A manuscript may be rejected at the initial screening stage if the Editor determines that it falls outside the journal’s scope, does not meet the required standards of quality or originality, or fails to comply with IJCLR’s submission and formatting guidelines.

Peer Review: If the manuscript is sent for review, it will undergo a peer-review process in which independent external experts in the relevant field evaluate the manuscript’s scholarly quality, originality, methodology, legal analysis, and overall significance to the discipline.

Final Decision: After considering the reports and recommendations of the peer reviewers, the Editor makes the final decision on the manuscript, which may include acceptance, rejection, or a request for minor or major revisions.

References

Authors must format all citations and references in accordance with the latest edition of the Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation. IJCLR requires the use of footnotes only for all references and explanatory notes; endnotes are not permitted. All sources cited in the text must appear in the footnotes, and citations must be accurate, complete, and consistently formatted. Authors are responsible for ensuring compliance with Bluebook rules, including proper citation of cases, statutes, books, journal articles, and online sources.

Title page

Title : Brief and instructive as it is employed for information retrieval systems.

Author names and affiliations : Clearly state each author's given name(s) and family name(s), and make sure all names are spelled correctly. The English transliteration can be followed by your name in your own script, which is enclosed in parenthesis. Place the affiliation addresses of the authors (where the work was completed) below the names. After the author's name and before the relevant address, place a lowercase superscript letter to indicate all affiliations. Include each affiliation's complete postal address, along with the name of the nation and, if available, the author's email address.

Corresponding author : Clearly state who will manage correspondence during refereeing, publishing, and post-publication. This involves addressing questions pertaining to Methodology and Materials. Provide an email address and phone numbers.

Present/permanent address : If an author has moved since the work described in the article was done or was visiting at the time, a 'Present address' (or 'Permanent address') may be indicated as a footnote to that author's name. The address at which the author actually did the work must be retained as the main affiliation address. Superscript Arabic numerals are used for such footnotes.
